Waverly Tan, known to her friends as Lee, stands at 5' 10" with a graceful figure. She worked for that figure by training in the martial arts with her father for most of her life. Waverly has long, dark brown hair that she usually wears according to the style of clothing she has on at the time. Her brown eyes radiate with happiness and good cheer most of the time, but they also reflect her very mood more aptly than her facial expressions. She has a kind heart and a gentle, caring soul, which makes her a good target for a scam or two, but those who underestimate her inner power quickly learn that Waverly is a force to be reckoned with. Her warm smile reflects her understanding, loving personality, which garners her many friends. Her love of life is contagious and her passion for learning is what led her to her current position as Davena MacRae's Watcher.

Waverly was born in San Diego, CA to a strict, extremely disciplined Chinese family. She was a consistently obedient, soft-spoken and respectful child as were both her parents when they were younger. Her father taught her self-discipline through martial arts, which prepared her for her future although neither one knew it at the time. Always very bright, Waverly skipped two grades in school. Once she reached high school, Waverly began to rebel against the ideals of her parents. Despite this rebellion, she respected everything her parents taught her and she carries with her the lessons and morals they had instilled in her as a child. It's a part of her that she can never let go of.

Waverly went to private, nonsecular schools all her life and it was no surprise to her parents that she graduated high school -- in 2014 -- top of her class. It was then that she got a passport and moved to Paris to study the arts instead of psychology although it always seemed that the sciences where her strenght and her passion. Her parents were shocked and upset by Waverly's rash decision. She studied in Paris for 3 years. While there, she did a little modeling, both nude and otherwise, to help pay her bills.

Upon her return to San Diego in 2017, Waverly learned her parents had disowned her for her "disobedience". Her brother, James, was the only member of her family to openly welcome her home. This cold reception only caused her to rebel even more against her parents and although she has some regrets about her decisions, Waverly stands behind them as they shaped her future. Soon after arriving, she left and headed to New York City.

In New York City, Waverly met Steven Moxon and his friends. They helped her find work and a decently sized apartment. By 2018, Waverly learned that Steven was part of a secret organization -- the Watchers -- and soon joined it as well. She spent her first year with the group as a researcher and one-handedly maintained the online Watchers' Chronicles. Before long, she was bored with her work in the "library" and threatened to leave. Her superiors quickly realized that Waverly would be far more useful -- and content -- in the field. In 2019, they sent her out to find Davena MacRae.

For over a year, Waverly did as all Watchers did -- she Watched her subject from afar. However, as she delved futher into Davena MacRae's past, she took an instant interest in Davena. Soon, Waverly introduced herself to the Immortal, but didn't yet tell Davena who she was. In 2021, the pair struck up what appears to be a lasting friendship. They usually travel together, which makes Waverly's job easier -- and more dangerous. Her superiors don't yet know that she broke a rule that Watchers have followed for as long as the organization has been in existence. And Waverly hasn't yet tipped them off to this indiscretion.

Davena found out almost accidently that Waverly was her Watcher, but Davena understood that her friend had to keep this information from her. Davena has also come to understand that Waverly has a job to do and allows her friend the space and opportunity to do it. Often Waverly can get more information by asking her subject about an event, which makes her job easier. The two have a wonderful arrangement since Davena openly shares her past with Waverly while, on the very rare occasion when Davena needs help, Waverly gets Davena information about other Immortals in return.

They've been traveling and living together for the last 3 years (since 2022) and Waverly has been able to fill in more blanks in Davena's Chronicles than any of her successors. Thankfully, this has kept the organization off of her back and they don't ask how she's getting all of her information. Waverly hopes to keep things as they are for as long as possible for her sake and Davena's.
